Product Photography in Dubai, UAE

Product photography greatly influences how your target audience perceives your brand.

Bad images look poor, untrustworthy, and, for the most part, don’t fully represent the product.

Good images, however, tell stories. They showcase the quality, branding, and functionality of products, boosting sales and conversions.

If you have a brand, you need professional product photography for your e-commerce site, advertising, and much, much more.

What is Product Photography

Product photography is the process of capturing images of a product for advertising, e-commerce, or promotional purposes. They often showcase the product’s features, details, and usability, helping consumers visualise the item before purchasing.

Example of Product Photography

There are many examples of product photography. For example, a packshot for advertising. This is just like the images we created for Karen Plastic back in 2019.

You also have e-commerce photography. This is a type of product photography but for an e-commerce platform. For example, the image we did for Laura Oils in 2023 below.

Another example is from Poolad Pooyesh, who creates plastics. For the most part, this is sent to manufacturers and will be part of a brochure.

These are just some examples. The examples are truly endless. However, you should see that there isn’t one way to shoot a product. In fact, they’re millions of different ways.

Types of Product Photography

Product photography plays an important role in all businesses, whether they’re from Dubai or not. It can be used to showcase, market, and advertise your products/services, helping customers visually understand what you’re offering.

1. Studio Product Shots

Studio product shots are usually used for e-commerce websites or platforms. They are simple, classic, and clean images that usually have a white background and the product as the centrepiece.

Typically, these images are taken in a lightbox or with lights and a white background. Both options provide the same results.

Because of their simplicity, they’re superb for product listings, catalogues, etc. They just represent the product in the clearest way possible.

2. Lifestyle Product Photography

Lifestyle product photography is slightly different. This type of photography shows the product in action. It represents what the product offers/does.

Typically, these are very target-audience-focused. For example, women using makeup, engineers using a welder, or, in the case below, a mechanic filling a car up with oil.

The goal of these images is simple. They’re used to grab the connection between the product and the consumer.

Using the image above as an example, it clearly appeals to mechanics. The professional gloves and setting indicate this.

If, however, the oil company wanted to target homeowners, you’d change how the oil is presented. Instead of being in a professional setting, it’ll be in a non-professional setting, such as a driveway.

3. Detailed/Marco Photography

Detailed or macro photography is used when the minor details matter. Therefore, it’s very useful for items where the material and craftsmanship matter. It can also be beneficial for smaller items.

For example, the photo below is for shisha equipment. The mouthpieces, for instance, which are very small in person, but, in the photograph, look large and detailed.

There are also various other reasons why you’d use micro photography. Think jewellery, watches, electronics, cosmetics, etc. These all have fine details that may need capturing to sell or showcase the product.

4. Group or Collection Shots

When a product has a collection of items, a group or collection shot is used to capture multiple items in one image, therefore, it’s perfect for any product with different variations or designs.

The following image demonstrates this perfectly. The product/service is for small signs. These signs can be custom-made. As a result, the image represents the craftsmanship as well as the customisable features of the product/service.

This type of photography can be used in several instances, such as cosmetics, fashion collections, tech gadgets, etc. In all of these scenarios, you can capture multiple products in one image.

5. Flat Lay Photography

As the name implies, flat-lay photography is when you lay a product flat and capture it from above.

This type of shot allows for creative compositions. As a result, it’s commonly used for social media and branding.

For example, the image below showcases fast food in a vibrant, fun, and exciting way.

Flat lays can be used for a wide range of products. Think beauty products, office supplies, fashion accessories, and, in the above case, food.

You can have a lot of fun with this type of product photography. A lot of the time, photographers use the background to elevate the product.

6. Conceptual/Product-in-Action Photography

Conceptual or product-in-action photography is all about capturing the product in action. It’s used to tell a story or to portray an idea of how the product can be used.

You can really go to the extreme with this type of photography. A less extreme case, however, is the following image. This is for a plastics company that makes food containers.

As you can see from the above image, it clearly represents how the product can be used, not only this but also where it can be used – a cafe.

You see conceptual photography with a lot of products—for example, power tools, cars, and gym equipment. For the most part, this is the most effective way to showcase these products.

7. Packshot Photography

For e-commerce brands, packshot photography is a must. Simply put, it’s used to highlight the packaging of a product.

The reason you’d use a packshot is so the customer knows what the product looks like. Not only the physical product but also the packaging.

These images are usually clean and sharp, displaying the entire product packaging. You can use this type of shot in a professional, white background or with a different type of environment, like the one below.

Packshot photography can be used for all products. It can also be used for multiple cases, from e-commerce to advertising and marketing.

Benefits of Product Photography for Brands

Professional product photography has a huge impact on brands. These include but aren’t limited to the following:

Increased Sales and Conversions

The first and probably biggest benefit is the increased number of sales and conversions.

Reportedly, high-quality product photos lead to a 94% higher conversion rate compared to low-quality images.

This alone pays the photographer’s price. A 94% higher conversion rate is massive.

Plus, as an added extra, products that use multiple images from various angles can increase sales by 58%.

These increases in conversion rate can dramatically impact business. It doesn’t matter how you look at it. It makes professional product photography mandatory for brands.

Enhanced Customer Trust

Low-quality images don’t scream “trust”. High-quality images, however, scream “trust”.

A lot, also. It’s known that around 90% of online shoppers consider the quality of the product photos as one of the most critical factors when making a purchasing decision.

We get it, also. Would you purchase from an online store that has unprofessional product images? Probably not.

And the reason is that the quality of the photo represents the product or service.

Improved Engagement and Traffic

You need traffic and engagement to make conversions. High-quality images can boost this a lot.

In general, professional photos generate 95% more organic traffic. Plus, most shoppers (50%) feel the need for more product photos than a description or review.

And as an added extra, you get to post these images everywhere. In advertisements, for example, on social media.

You can even use it for image SEO. This is where you optimise the images on your website to appear in the search results. Think of the website traffic that you can pull from it.

Lower Return Rates

When you order something online, you expect to receive exactly what you saw. Nothing else.

Low-quality images can’t promise this. After all, they’re low quality. High-quality images, however, ensure that customers fully understand what they are buying.

This helps lower return rates. It’s known that using high-quality images can lower return rates by around 22%.

As a result of this, your profit margins also increase. Whether you like it or not, returns take time and resources. And, as a brand, you need to pay for these.
