Behind the Lens: Food Photography for Over 300 Restaurants with SnappFood

Over 300 Restaurants, 3000+ Frames, and 250+ Setups: The Journey

At Masoud Raoufi Photography Services, we thrive on challenges, and this project with SnappFood was an ambitious feat that put our expertise to the test. Imagine capturing the delicious offerings of more than 300 restaurants and fast-food outlets, creating over 3000 images, and adapting to 250+ unique setups to suit different environments—all while ensuring the food looked mouth-wateringly good in every shot. This wasn’t just a food photography project; it was a test of precision, creativity, and adaptability.

Working with SnappFood, a leader in Iran’s food delivery market, we embarked on this project to elevate their visual content, enhancing the online experience for customers browsing through countless meal options. With such a massive undertaking, each step of the way presented its own set of challenges, but our team delivered consistent, high-quality results at every location.

The Setup: Adapting to Each Restaurant’s Unique Space

No two restaurants are the same, and that was a major part of the challenge. From cozy, intimate eateries to bustling fast-food joints, each location required us to adapt both our lighting and camera setups to fit the space, lighting conditions, and type of food.

BTS Photos:

In some locations, we worked with minimal natural light, relying on softbox lighting and reflectors to highlight the rich textures and colors of the food. In other settings, where space was limited, our compact portable equipment allowed us to create a professional-quality shoot without disrupting the flow of the restaurant. The key to our success was flexibility—adjusting angles, light diffusion, and camera settings to match the mood and aesthetics of each space.

With more than 250 unique lighting and camera configurations, our team handled everything from capturing the juicy sheen of a burger to the delicate presentation of a fine-dining meal.

More Than 3000 Food Images: Capturing Every Detail

By the end of this project, we had created over 3000 photos, each one meticulously styled and shot to bring out the best in every dish. From appetizers to desserts, drinks to full-course meals, every image was crafted to look as enticing as possible. These images are now featured on SnappFood’s digital platforms, helping customers explore a wide variety of options with visually appealing, mouth-watering content.

Customizing Each Lighting and Camera Setup: Over 250 Unique Solutions

One of the biggest challenges in food photography is working in a variety of lighting conditions and spaces. Each restaurant had its own unique atmosphere—some had natural light streaming in through large windows, while others were dimly lit or packed with customers. Our job was to ensure that no matter the environment, the food looked fresh, vibrant, and ready to eat.

For this project, we employed over 250 different lighting setups, adjusting to each location’s specific needs. Using tools like softboxes, umbrellas, and reflectors, we balanced the light to avoid harsh shadows while ensuring the colors and textures of each dish were perfectly showcased.

Our portable equipment, including Canon EOS R6 Mark II cameras and Godox AD300 Pro flashes, allowed us to move quickly from one restaurant to another, maintaining a high level of quality without compromising on speed or efficiency. This flexibility was essential, given the project’s fast pace and the wide variety of environments we encountered.

The Power of Professional Food Photography for SnappFood

In the food delivery market, visuals are everything. The success of platforms like SnappFood depends on how well the food is presented online. With more than 300 restaurants and 3000 photos, our photography wasn’t just about making food look good—it was about helping SnappFood connect with customers in a way that makes them excited to order.

Each image tells a story of the food’s quality, presentation, and appeal, driving customers to explore new options, whether they’re scrolling through their phone or visiting the website. These photos are more than just marketing materials; they are tools that help build trust, encourage engagement, and boost sales.

The range of dishes was as diverse as the restaurant types. For each photo, we aimed to capture the perfect balance of texture, color, and composition. Whether it was a simple, hearty burger or a colorful gourmet salad, our goal was to make each dish shine through vivid, appetizing imagery.

The Tools Behind the Project

Achieving consistency and creativity across hundreds of locations is no small feat. Here’s a breakdown of the tools we used to ensure each photo was captured to perfection:

  • Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera: Known for its superb image quality, this camera was crucial in capturing the fine details of every dish.
  • Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS USM Lens: This versatile lens allowed us to adjust quickly to different shooting angles and food types, from wide-angle setups to detailed close-ups.
  • Godox AD300 Pro Compact Flash: Essential for controlling lighting in various conditions, providing powerful yet flexible lighting solutions.
  • Softboxes, Umbrellas, and Reflectors: These tools ensured each shot had the right balance of light, helping to bring out the textures and vibrant colors of the food.

Why Flexibility and Precision Matter in Food Photography

Handling a project of this scale taught us the importance of flexibility and precision. With so many different locations, dishes, and setups, being adaptable was key to ensuring consistency across the entire project. The ability to customize each lighting and camera setup allowed us to create a cohesive collection of images that all told the same story: delicious, high-quality food, ready to order.

At Masoud Raoufi Photography Services, we take pride in delivering results that exceed expectations, even under challenging conditions. Our work with SnappFood is a testament to our ability to handle large-scale projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
