A Burj Khalifa view is the reason a guest books a holiday home in Downtown Dubai, so the photographs have to show it at its best, and the tower looks different at every hour of the day. Vista Haus Holiday Homes asked MRPS to photograph this two bedroom apartment in Downtown Views, one of the best known towers in Downtown Dubai, for its Airbnb listing, and we planned the shoot in three parts: daylight, twilight and night. The daylight set covers the whole apartment: the living room with its floor to ceiling windows and orange feature wall, the open kitchen and dining area, the two bedrooms with their ensuite bathrooms, the laundry cupboard and the two balconies with artificial grass, bistro chairs and a Dubai Nights neon sign, all with the Burj Khalifa framed in the glass. At twilight we photographed the living room, the master bedroom and the balconies again, when the sky turns deep blue and the tower and the Downtown skyline light up, which is the frame that stops a guest scrolling. After dark we finished with the night views: the Burj Khalifa in its blue lights, the lit roads below and the balcony with the neon sign glowing against the city. Why Shoot a Burj Khalifa View Apartment at Three Times of Day
In daylight the apartment reads as bright, clean and spacious, and guests can see the layout, the finishes and the size of each room. Twilight is the short window after sunset when the sky is still blue, the interior lights are on and the Burj Khalifa has just lit up, so the inside and the outside are balanced in one exposure. At night the city becomes the subject: the tower, the fountain lights and the traffic on the roads below turn the balcony into the reason to book.
Each set is shot from the same key positions, so a guest flicking through the listing sees the same living room and the same balcony change with the light. Twilight and night interiors are shot on a tripod with blended exposures, so the windows keep their colour and the rooms stay bright without the yellow cast of a single frame.
