A modeling portfolio has to do two jobs at once: show an agency exactly what a model looks like, and show a brand what he could look like in their campaign. For Abdelhak Benatia, a Dubai based professional building his modeling portfolio alongside his career, Nastaran planned the session around our Prime package, the middle option in our modeling portfolio range: a two hour studio session, up to three looks, a moodboard prepared in advance and twenty finished images, including the clean Polaroids and digitals that agencies ask for first. The digitals came first, on a plain grey backdrop in a white tank top and jeans, straight on and in profile, with flat even light and no retouching of shape, because that is how casting directors want to see a new face. Then the session opened up: a cream knit on a stool with soft, wrapped light for a commercial, catalogue feel; a black suit and open blazer with harder, more sculpted light for an editorial and fashion mood; and a few relaxed frames on the floor and on a white chair that show movement, laughter and personality, the things a comp card cannot. Everything was photographed on a Canon EOS R5 Mark II with the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens, lit with Godox studio strobes, so skin texture, fabric and muscle definition hold up at full size for print comp cards as well as on Instagram and agency websites. This is our modeling portfolio photography service in Dubai for new faces and working models.
